How Much Does AICD Cost?

The Company Directors Course has four formats and eight prices. Here they are.

Read from AICD’s own course page on 19 August 2026. These are 2026–27 fees: AICD adjusts pricing at the start of each financial year, and its membership page confirms the current round applied from 1 July 2026.

Nobody should pay the non-member price

This is the part the fee tables never show you.

AICD membership costs $220 to join plus $775 a year — $995 in the first year. The member discount on the course is $2,200 to $3,400 depending on format. So joining before you enrol is not a loyalty decision, it is arithmetic:

Every format. You are better off joining, in the first year, before any of the membership’s other value is counted. AICD says so itself on the course page — “We recommend non-members purchase with AICD membership to enjoy a $3,400 discount” — but it is buried under the price, and the non-member column stays there looking like a real option.

Treat the non-member prices as notional. The only reason to pay one is not having read this far.

What the fee includes

The course fee covers the Interpreting Financial Statements and The Director Mindset modules, which AICD prices separately at $300 each for a non-member. Worth knowing if you were about to buy either on its own.

When it changes

1 July. AICD moved fees at the start of this financial year and its membership page is explicit about the date, so a figure quoted from March is a figure from the previous schedule.

One oddity worth flagging: AICD’s own course page still carries an “FY26 price” label on the complimentary modules, seven weeks into FY27. If you are comparing quotes, check which schedule the number came from rather than assuming.

What the alternatives cost — and why that is hard to answer

The obvious next question is what comparable governance education costs. We went and checked. The honest answer is that most providers do not tell you.

• Governance Institute of Australia, the nearest Australian comparator, publishes no price on its Certificate in Governance and Risk Management page. It offers “Book a call with a Professional development adviser” and “Request a course guide” instead. The certificate runs 21 hours.
• INSEAD lists no fee for any of its board and governance programmes — the International Directors Programme, Aspiring Directors Programme, Leading from the Chair or the rest.
• India’s Institute of Directors lists no fee for its Masterclass for Directors.
• Australian Institute of Business publishes no course fee, directing enquirers to a finance and payment options page.
• University of South Australia, which offers the Company Directors Course as an MBA capstone — “Complete the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) Company Directors Course as part of your degree” — quotes only a full-time annual rate, and the one on its page is for students enrolled in 2025.

That is the finding. AICD publishes eight prices on a public page. Most of its competitors publish none. When you are comparing governance qualifications you are usually comparing one real number against a series of conversations, and that asymmetry is worth naming before you start.
